Financial Advisers’ International Qualification (FAIQ)

The Financial Advisers’ International Qualification (FAIQ) is an internationally recognized certification program developed by the prestigious UK-based Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). The FAIQ in Macau is co-developed and managed by the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) and Macau Institute of Financial Services (IFS) through formal appointment by the CII.

 The FAIQ program is a self-study course.  It has been offered in Macau since 2005 for those wishing to attain the professional qualification of financial advisers and financial planners. It is designed to give anyone a headstart in the growing financial services industry.

 The FAIQ public exam is held twice a year, in April and October. Its inaugural exam in Macao was held in October 2005, and it enters into its fourth year in 2008.

 For the 1st FAIQ exam this year held on April 16, 52 candidates enrolled in the exam, of which 50 in the exam in Chinese while only 2 in the exam in English. 50 candidates actually sat for the exam while only 2 were absent from the exam. The exam results were released on June 06, and 34 candidates passed the exam, representing a passing rate of 68%.

 For the 2nd FAIQ exam this year held on October 15, 47 candidates enrolled in the exam, of which 45 in the exam in Chinese while only 2 in the exam in English.

Qualified candidates, after they have successfully attained joint membership status for CII, IFPHK and IFS, are entitled to print FAIQ (CII), IFPHK Associate Member & IFS Individual Member designation in all printed communications, including business cards, letterheads, etc.
